GB Government to Upgrade 3 Software Technology Parks and Open 14 Freelance Centers
Two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed by the Gilgit-Baltistan School and Education Department, the Pakistan Software Export Board, and the Special Communications Organization to promote freelance possibilities and the region’s IT infrastructure. The goal of these agreements is to establish Gilgit-Baltistan as a center for innovation, digital education, and IT freelance work.
According to the first Memorandum of Understanding, PSEB and Gilgit-Baltistan’s IT Department will collaborate to create Software Technology Hubs in Diamer, Ghizer, and Nagar. PSEB will supply the technological know-how required to propel development in the area, and these hubs will function as important innovation centers.
14 IT centers will be established in schools around the region as part of the second Memorandum of Understanding between SCO, the Gilgit-Baltistan Education Department, and the IT Department. These centers will be vital in helping students develop their digital literacy and provide them with necessary IT skills.
IT Advisor Suraiya Zaman, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Abrar Ahmed Mirza, Sector Commander SCO Colonel Faheem, Secretary Education Akhtar Hussain Rizvi, and Secretary IT Riaz Ahmed were among the important authorities who attended the signing event. IT Advisor Suraiya Zaman stressed in her speech the government’s dedication to turning Gilgit-Baltistan into an IT hotspot and the value of these collaborations in generating employment prospects for young people in the area through professional development and training.
Faiz Ullah Faraq, a spokesman for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, said that these efforts are an important milestone in the region’s path to economic development and digital transformation. During the second shift, the freelancing centers will make use of the IT laboratories set up in 14 schools throughout Gilgit-Baltistan, giving young people more chances to work as independent contractors and enhancing the area’s IT capacity.
