PTA Streamlines DIRBS by Archiving Legacy IMEI Data
In a move aimed at enhancing the performance and responsiveness of the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS), the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has archived outdated IMEI records from its database. This strategic step is designed to improve system efficiency and ensure smoother operations for all stakeholders.
By optimizing the DIRBS infrastructure, both PTA and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) will benefit from improved data management and faster processing, paving the way for more streamlined monitoring and regulation of mobile devices across the country.
This initiative also serves as a push for mobile users to comply with the official registration process by submitting the applicable FBR duties and taxes. Prompt registration supports a fair and secure digital environment while reducing the risk of device misuse or unauthorized access.
Unregistered mobile phones will continue to operate on local networks for a grace period of 60 days. If the necessary FBR payments are not made within this window, the device will be blocked in line with DIRBS enforcement policies.
PTA reiterates its dedication to fostering a secure, transparent, and user-centric mobile ecosystem in Pakistan.
